How am I doing? (Days 91-180)

A few thoughts on how my deliberate year is going. Days 1-90 are on the other status page. I’m still updating these to reflect Day 180….

DELIBERATE about

  • Day 91 – Wow – what a ride- Day 120 status: I really was able to let go and agree to do a lot of things that would normally be outside my comfort zone.
  • Day 92 – Prevent Dementia – Day 120 status: training my brain daily with different puzzles and games.
  • Day 93 – Use it or lose it – Day 120 status: I haven’t been able to start getting up earlier because of the trip and being sick, but starting with Day 121 I will make it a priority.
  • Day 94 – Not be like Matt Lauer – Day 120 status: I’m really focused on what sort of legacy I have, and how to ensure I don’t lose it.
  • Day 95 – Taking care of my heart: Day 120 status: Other than yoga, I’ve been pretty attentive to the list.
  • Day 96 – Likeable – Day 120 status: I think this comes naturally now with my attempt to be present.
  • Day 97 – Peace of wild things – Day 120 status: I haven’t been getting outside as much as I want to, but I do seek the outdoors when I can.
  • Day 98 – Grateful for where I’m rooted – nothing much to do for this day except be grateful.
  • Day 99 – Being the life of the party- nothing to do, the party went well.
  • Day 100 – Realizing I was going to die – nothing to do, just continue to follow my principles
  • Day 101 – Not treating bride like a vending machine – Day 120 status: I am more mindful of my manipulation tendencies and am trying to tamp those down.
  • Day 102- Take a snow day – nothing for this day, except a reminder to take time to just do nothing sometimes.
  • Day 103 – Barenaked Ladies – Day 120 status: I haven’t been deliberate about trying to be funny. I need to work this back into my daily schedule. Which means using the planner.
  • Day 104 – Not committing adultery – Day 120 status: So I am trying not to see women as objects, and am trying to see them as human beings with the full range of everything I live and yearn for.
  • Day 105 – Can’t make more time – this one always makes me pause. I love watching Normal Maclain in the river, but his words haunt me.
  • Day 106 – Zero summing the schedule – Day 120 status: this was working, when I was actually planning my day. I need to restart this.
  • Day 107 – Food bucket list – nothing to report for this.
  • Day 108 – Continued simplifying – I did add the phrase “Do I really need this item” to my card in my wallet.
  • Day 109 – Poorest in the world – Day 120 status: I did the first 2 actions, and plan on talking with the family about the last 2 action steps this month.
  • Day 110 – Portion sizes – Day 120 status: I’m definitely not eating as much portion-wise as I had been.
  • Day 111 – Off sick.
  • Day 112 – Off sick.
  • Day 113 – State of us – Day 120 status: tonight is the night actually to do this.
  • Day 114 – Off sick again.
  • Day 115 – Drawing circles – nothing specific to do.
  • Day 116 – Blueberries – Day 120 status: bought some, and am eating them daily.
  • Day 117 – Proofs of love – Day 120 status: I started giving the wife 20 second hugs. But I can feel her pulling away after 10 seconds or so.
  • Day 118 – Love, kiss, date only my bride – nothing specific to do.
  • Day 119 – Nothing to do.
  • Day 120 – Review day.
  • Day 121  – Day 180: Treat Yo Spouse day – none of my guy friends wanted in on this idea. So I’m going to try a different tack.
  • Day 122 – Day 180: 86,400 seconds. I often find myself wasting time again. I need to refocus.
  • Day 123 – Sense of smell – Day 180: No change yet.
  • Day 124 – Epic Family Trip – Day 180: Now the daughter wants to go to a different country, which may throw things off.
  • Day 125 – Superpowers – Day 180: Still haven’t been seeing things better yet.
  • Day 126 – Seeing People. Day 180: In Chicago I saw the homeless people, and specifically said Hi and spoke at length with them.
  • Day 127 – Family’s history. Day 180: I wrote down some of my history and my family’s history. Need to finish it up.
  • Day 128 – 21st Day. Day 180: It definitely takes more that 21 days to make a habit stick.
